BP’s Silent Siren

From The Rag Blog:

“Now, comes the disquieting news that the emergency alarm on the oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico was turned off the night that 11 workers were killed, and that the biggest oil spill in U.S. history began to wreak havoc. This news comes not from a CEO at BP, but, as is so often the case, from a worker — from Mike Williams, who was the chief electronics engineer on the rig. Williams recently told investigators that the alarm was turned off deliberately so that workers would sleep through the night and not be woken by “false” alarms. Hey, who wants to lose sleep, especially when the world might be blown to kingdom come?”

  1. I’m no longer shocked or surprised by the mounting anecdotal evidence that shows a pattern of bizarre behaviour by BP and it’s bankers leading up to the explosion on the DWH.

This bizarre behaviour that has been analysed by many and various commentators have presented these findings to the public through various media outlets.

I have picked through them and come away with the deep suspicion that BP and their bankers are engaging in disaster based economics.

I think they my have got the idea from how certain financial institutions backed against their own sub-prime CDO’s and other exotic derivatives even as they were promoting and selling them.

They knew what was coming and insured their inner circle against it.

The world financial system is so irretrievably rigged, by the main players in the system, that they make money having accidents and offloading the risk onto the unsuspecting investors who aren’t in the insider loop of the scam.

It’s just one massive sucker-punch to the ordinary person as we have seen again and again when something disastrous happens it’s the tax payer who eventually ends up with the bill.

I’m just left spinning by the enormity and ruthlessness of these people, underscored by the deaths of 11 rig workers at the time.

There is a favourite expression used in big business, and that is “no one is indispensable.” I thought at the time how odd it sounded coming from a fellow employee.

I realise now that they had given up control of their lives in exchange for the protection afforded by the company to those who were obedient to it.

To be considered obedient you had to leave any critical functions at the gate/door and have your whole existence monitored and shaped by various ‘supervisory personnel’ who monitor and document your bodily functions to compile a dossier on each individuals alcohol/drug/fitness for work levels.

Permanent documentation that can be shared and possibly used against you at any time that pleases an employer or government of the day.

This level of privacy intrusion by business and government is growing to a level where we (the monitored) are all going to end up living life in a straight-jacket if these people get their way.

    And for what ?

So we can end up as a statistic on a list in some hospital morgue because it was time for some of our power elite to make a quick buck on the side, seeing as the world economy is a bit flat at the moment ?!

My head hurts. I’m going for a lie down.

  2. Well – I don’t blame you.
But be encouraged that more people are waking up and realizing that government isn’t the savior..it’s very much a part of the problem.
The first step is to know the whole story…that’s a big step.
And we have to fight propaganda, self interest and naivete every inch of the way..not only other people’s, but our own..
Still, the universe has a way of mysteriously helping..
To what end is anyone’s guess.
