Ukraine Tries To Shut Down Russian Domain Names

Ukraine’s desperation is palpable in this latest almost comic request to get ICANN to remove Russian domain names, that is, names with dot ru after them. ICANN is the private non-profit in California that manages the global DNS root zone. Doing so would make it difficult for anyone to access emails in Russia, among other things. Fortunately, ICANN declined.
