I’d hate to think the Powers That Be have so little to occupy their minds that they might actually waste time censoring my site.
So, let me put down to the Whims of the Web, such things as broken links, comments that vanish….and the mysterious problem I’ve had with my old free wordpress site, lilarajiva.wordpress.com, showing up at the top of google searches of my name, but not this one.
Some algorithm or other?
But today. I really am beginning to wonder. I did a search with Altavista and Yahoo and sure enough, this site appears at the very top as lilarajiva.com.
Hmmm. What is going on? And what to do about it? The old site is one I can’t access and free wordpress blogs can’t be redirected.
Your old blog features your name in every HTML title element… on this one, your name doesn’t even appear until after the main content.
I suggest installing the “All in One SEO Pack” plugin for WordPress (http://semperfiwebdesign.com/documentation/all-in-one-seo-pack/all-in-one-seo-faq/) and using its options to change your page/post title format to something like “Lila Rajiva’s Mind-Body Politic
I did some looking around and I believe your new site is not indexed on google because of this line in your HTML header…
Remove that and google will have to come up with another excuse… 😉
That line didn’t show up in my comment so trying again without the angle brackets…
meta name=’robots’ content=’noindex,nofollow’/
Thanks fellas!
Boy. Glad to know it.
I will try the SEO pack Mike,
and Matt…which HTML header is that?
Since I am getting all this good advice, can anyone tell me how to get into the Stats counter? I need to use the old password I had when I set it up but can’t recall it and wordpress admin hasn’t been swayed by all the evidence I trotted out in front of them that I was in fact the one who set it up…
Can I install another counter that isn’t wordpress?
Thanks
Lila
So, Matt,
I go into Admin, go to the Header and tinker with the code?
Hmmm…
I didn’t find that line when I went to Presentation, and then to Theme Editor and Header.
The line that inserts the evil noindex, nofollow tag is probably in Header.php, so check that using the theme editor for the current them and delete the code that produces that entire meta tag if you find it there.
If it’s not there, then likely some other plugin is inserting it.
I think it must be a plug in.
I will delete them from my host C Panel
