The Bear Stearns buy-out, at $29 billion, for example, takes us just past the moon.
The 2009 federal budget deficit, at $1.2 trillion, takes us past the sun.
Only recently has it become clear to me that the US government has no intention of honoring its obligations. Nobody, and I mean nobody would borrow in this manner if the thought even crossed their mind for a moment that they might someday have to pay it back. They have no intention of paying it back. None. That bothers me.
Reaching for the stars has a whole new meaning now.

I think I always thought there were shady things going on..and then 9-11 and the war..and the rest confirmed it.
But, Sept 2008 blew me away.
I had no idea that the rot was so deep.
My feeling is that the oligarchs, if you want to call them that, don’t see themselves as doing anything wrong. They believe they’re pursuing a good…I think it’s that outrageous.
I think Bob above is just like those in China, only reccently has the idea entered people’s minds that the word of an American politician is worthless, that we do not in fact have a strong Dollar policy.
John Wayne really made an impression on the Asian people, imho, the only problem is, America’s leaders are so far removed from the image John Wayne’s characters portrayed that when politicians act all honest and such it is hard to tell they are really vipers. Once bitten…
