I happened to look at my back links at a website that monitors these things and found I had over 16,000.
A much larger website with 25% fewer links had a rate of no-follow tags to links of 1.5%.
13.5% of my links had no-follow tags.
A link to my site at Zerohedge (a govt. endorsed conspiracy site) has a no-follow tag behind it.
So also at the popular site, Business Pundit.
And at Christ4ro.com.
In other words, dozens of sites that have links to this blog placed by readers and sometimes by me (I voted for Business Pundit, that’s why there was a link there) have no-follow tags after the links, so I don’t get traffic from them.
Did they take the trouble to do it themselves or is it some kind of web censorship?
When I’m a bit less sleepy (it’s past midnight), I’ll find out more about the other sites that are blocking traffic for me.
Meanwhile, a reader posts and asks me not to publish.
I published, but removed the name.
I need your comments and I need links.
I know people don’t like “getting involved,” but if you don’t, who will?
Lila,
I’m a fan of your writing. Don’t know of anyone else blogging that refuses to be gathered into a specific ideological corral as much as you do. Criticizing those (when they need it e.g., Walter Block, Murray Rothbard) is one of your strong points.
It irks me that there are those who would like to see you silenced and I don’t have the resources to counter their moves.
That said: I did hear you when you stated: I know people who “don’t like getting involved”but “if you don’t who will?) Right now I just need to find a way that goes beyond talking to my personal friends.
Gene
Hi Gene,
So kind of you. No, I’m not asking for anyone to help in any way except to speak up a bit.
I was addressing a reader who passed on a valuable comment and link but didn’t want it published. I compromised by making him anonymous but publishing.
I don’t know what else to do.
You have always been very very supportive and it’s nice to see you around.
Changing the minds of friends is a big enough deal. You’d be surprised how many people cannot even convince their spouses and families.
There’s a critical mass that is reached and then momentum takes over.
Anyway, it wasn’t any kind of call to arms. I understand how helpless everyone is to do much more than “talk among yourselves” as that SNL skit used to go.
It was just midnight and ’round about midnight everything sounds blue.
“I know people don’t like “getting involved,” but if you don’t, who will?”
Isn’t that, The Truth.
Also, RE: “Changing the minds of friends is a big enough deal. You’d be surprised how many people cannot even convince their spouses and families.”
Oh boy, ain’t THAT the truth! I’m going through argument mega 10×10 right now over a Very – Very- simple pretext. It’s like I’m fighting a scaly red demon,… as if I didn’t have enough of that from my sister-in-law.
I’m half-tempted to commit adultery just to break it off. … Is there any other way? …Prolly not, it’s a punishment for …. making your bad choice., or something like that? WFD.
As it’s intended, I imagine.
what is WFD?
Wow. I didn’t know. Pardon me. I will do my best to remember that.
