Hacking Sarah Palin: Way to Go, Civil Liberties Champs!

Update:

Says Yahoo, “According to reports in Knoxville’s Tennessean, Democrat State Representative Mike Kernell admitted that his son, David Kernell is being questioned by authorities in connection with the crime. The Secret Service and the FBI launched an official investigation on September 17. ”

Suggesting it might have come  from a party operative or someone in politics politics wasn’t so far wrong, was it?

“WASHINGTON – Hackers broke into the Yahoo! e-mail account that Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin used for official business as Alaska’s governor, revealing as evidence a few inconsequential personal messages she has received since John McCain selected her as his running mate.”
Comment:

If this hacking proves to have came out of the Obama camp, I must say their claim to be champions of civil liberties is damaged. Whoever the thugs who did this, I hope they realize they are damaging the credibility of their campaign. I haven’t been all that much taken with Ms. Palin. But she is going to get a sympathy vote out of this, and rightly so.

  1. Good Heavens, Don’t blame this on Obama, He doesn’t have time for lipstick on pigs or hacking into personal email accounts! Just about any mediocre hacker could have done it.

  2. Yes. No one’s blaming Obama himself. But people who think they are helping their candidate doing this kind of thing need to be put on notice….

  3. Funny that its called hacking when some private individual does it but it is called “national security” when the gov’t looks at your email.

  4. For someone to immediately go to the thought that the Obama camp is responsible is short sided, narrow minded, and juvenile. It is easy for anyone to do such an act. The main issue here is the idiotic method with which Palin has left herself and her governing ideas out in the open by using Yahoo as her governing email service. This simply shows the public how inappropriate and incompetent she is and should NOT be running for this office.

This stupid move alone is enough to vote against the Repugnicant party! What other uneducated moves will this woman do if she makes it to the top…

  5. <p>I respectfully disagree. You can’t be too tough about cyber snooping. Also, I don’t believe I said it was Obama’s campaign that did it. I said. IF some camp follower did it, and IF it gets traced back to the campaign, then shame on whoever did it. Nothing juvenile about respecting people’s privacy. Party politics and politicking is what’s juvenile, I think….
What’s wrong with asking people to distance themselves from intrusive stuff like that?

On the politics of it, I do think Palin is not the best choice (though a clever choice) for a number of reasons…it calls McCain’s judgment into question. But then the choice of Biden wasn’t the best one… (IMHO). And Obama, while well educated, is not especially qualified, either.
But I think some of the criticism of her is because she’s rallied the Republican base.
And neither candidate has come out with anything credible about the financial situation.
I’d rather talk about that than take pot shots back and forth….

  6. It seemed to be subliminally implied that the “Obama Camp” had something to do with what was going on. You of all people should know that the implication would exist based on how one may write as one of the authors of “Mobs, Messiahs, and Markets”! Through simple insinuations it can become truth. The Republicans champion this action as we all know.

Tommy Smother’s accepted a gratis Emmy award last night and stated in his speech, “Just one last thought, there’s one word that exists in every language on the face of the Earth, in every society from the time man began to speak and the word is “truth”. It exists in every language and it means exactly the same thing . . . . Truth – truth is what you get other people to believe.”

I loved your book by the way!!

  7. Hey Doug –

see the latest info tracing this back to the son of a Dem state rep. Yes, that isn’t the fault of the Obama campaign. Sorry if it seemed I implied that. I get exasperated with people doing things they think will help and it only hurts.

But really – Obama/McCain – it’s choose your poison….with apologies to both candidates who seem like admirable people personally. Can politicians actually stand up to the demands of the bankers, fairly brainwashed electorates, and the other interests they have to? I doubt it. Only Rep. Paul seems to have done that so far….and look where it got him? Denied even a place to speak.
