Brazil’s beloved Elis Regina sings Eu Quero Uma Casa No Campo.
It seems more than appropriate for libertarians interested in getting off-grid.
The video clip is from the Serra Negra, Bezerros, in Pernambuco in the North East of Brazil. The translation is mine and probably really wrong on a couple of things, but I couldn’t find anything else on the net.
Eu quero uma casa no campo
Eu quero uma casa no campo
I want a cottage in the country
Onde eu possa compor muitos rocks rurais
Where I can write a lot of country rock
E tenha somente a certeza
And have only the certainty
Dos amigos do peito e nada mais
Of close friends and nothing more
Eu quero uma casa no campo
I want a cottage in the country
Onde eu possa ficar no tamanho da paz
Where I can find a bit of peace
E tenha somente a certeza
And have only the certainty
Dos limites do corpo e nada mais
Of the limits of my body and nothing more
Eu quero carneiros e cabras
I want sheep and goats
Pastando solenes no meu jardim
Grazing solemnly in my garden
Eu quero o silĂȘncio das lĂnguas cansadas
I want the silence of tongues that have grown tired….

Thanks.
