Rabbi Daniel Lapin On the Morality Of Capitalism, At Loyola University, Baltimore, March 24

Correction: I originally had this as David Lapin..it’s Daniel Lapin (here’s a link to his Mises archive)
Tom di Lorenzo writes:

“The next speaker in my Moral Foundations of Capitalism lecture series at Loyola University Maryland is Rabbi Daniel Lapin, whose topic is: “Do The Right Thing: Get Rich.”

Rabbi Lapin is one of the most skilled rhetorical defenders of private property and free enterprise that I have ever encountered. He combines his knowledge of ancient Hebrew wisdom and economics to explain the morality of economic freedom.

Time: 7 PM Wednesday, March 24

Place: Andrew White Center, 4th Floor Program Room, Loyola University Maryland, 4501 N. Charles St., Baltimore

  1. “Do The Right Thing: Get Rich.”

That perked my interest, I hope someone records/writes that one down and posts it on the net for us know nothings in flyover country who cannot attend.

Economic freedom… haven’t heard that phrase before, has a nice ring to it, but it sounds impossible. An ultra-rich person only knows if it’s possible or not? Or does economic freedom have various degrees and levels? That’s more like privileges then, isn’t it?

The level of economic freedom one enjoys is a privilege obtained by luck, birth, hard work, and?

  2. Well, right now we don’t even have the freedom to opt out of health insurance..

Circumstances always limit the amount of any “right” you have.

But even if in reality your freedom isn’t great..
at least as an ideal, it’s worth holding up

  3. Thank you for posting my Wednesday night lecture at Loyola. Just one small correction to your headline: It is actually Rabbi DANIEL Lapin rather than Rabbi DAVID Lapin. Funnily enough I have a brother David and for some reason nobody ever calls him Daniel, but I am always being called David. Why? That is harder to explain than economic freedom. Warmest wishes–Rabbi Daniel Lapin
