An old story resurfaces. I was one of the first to blog about Rey Rivera’s death, in 2008, a year and a half after his body was found in the Belvedere hotel ball-room in downtown Baltimore.
I spoke with Stephen Janis, the intrepid Baltimore crime-reporter turned professor, who told me about the heavy pressure being brought to bear on his paper at the time to keep quiet about it. The same thing was repeated to me by people at Johns Hopkins University, where people had been told not to talk about the murder. I dug down a bit and pulled up a wild tale of gold, fraud, and murder, dating back a couple of decades. There was a Russian[Judaic/Khazar] mafia connection, it seems. I watched with interest as all sorts of obfuscating websites sprang up around the case, many of which seemed to have only the goal of muddying what happened and tarring by association anyone nosing around. I was warned not to look into the case, and, to tell the truth, as I can pretty much make a good guess as to what happened, I lost interest. But being a true crime aficionado, I have watched with satisfaction as Rey Rivera’s case got a national audience. First, it was from a rather thin but well-regarded book by a lady who lived in the Belvedere at the time; then it was from the Netflix movie which I’m told didn’t include important evidence; and now from Ms. Moya’s work, which, once and for all, puts an end to the disinformation about how his body got through the roof.
No, he wasn’t dumped from a helicopter.
