Mark Twain’s Battle Hymn Of The Republic

The Battle Hymn of the Republic Updated
by Mark Twain

Mine eyes have seen the orgy of the launching of the Sword;
He is searching out the hoardings where the stranger’s wealth is stored;
He hath loosed his fateful lightnings, and with woe and death has scored;
His lust is marching on.

Expat News: New Uruguay Tax Laws

Relocation expert and Uruguay specialist, David Hammond has the scoop on recent changes to tax law in Uruguay, “Uruguay Tax Proposal Rocks the Boat?”:

Uruguay made headlines all over the world this last week, with news of a proposed tax bill that could result in a weakening of Uruguay’s banking privacy and tax the offshore assets of Uruguayan citizens and foreign residents. Continue reading

Who Reads Me…

Just browsed my quantcast profile, which, for some reason, stopped receiving data the past couple of weeks.

I’m read by more men (over 66%) than women.  By more Caucasians than any other group – 77%. 8% of my readers are Asian (next highest demographic). 7% are black (not sure if this means African-American?). 6% are Hispanic.

My readers are mostly over 35 years (29% over 35, 28% over 50 years). Continue reading

SEC: We Don’t Know Anything About The Crash, But We Know What We Like

From AP, “SEC Puts In New Circuit Breaker Rules,” June 9, 2010

“Regulators still don’t know exactly what caused the “flash crash,” but they wanted to move ahead with remedies.”

“Don’t Know” and “Wanted To Move”.

Therein lies a brief history of intellectual error. Or as Pascal said: “All human evil comes from a single cause, man’s inability to sit still in a room.

Mises should have written another book –  “Human Inaction.”

Wikileaks’ Role In Julius Baer Case Linked to Soros, Sachs, & Spooks?

From The Wayne Madsen Report (a subscription-based service) comes this analysis (April, 2010) of the attack on the financial privacy of Swiss money manager, Julius Baer Group, exposed by whistle-blower Rudolf Elmer:

“WMR’s financial intelligence sources report that the unauthorized disclosure of a compact disk to Wikileaks that contained financial details of the clients of the secretive and usually highly-secure Zurich-based independent money management Julius Baer Group was designed to destroy the firm’s standing with its customers and make it ripe for a hostile takeover by interests associated with multi-billionaire vulture capitalist George Soros, including Goldman Sachs. Julius Baer was founded in the 19th century. Continue reading

Agenda 21 Alert: Cap & Trade’s Scoping Plan Will Crush Small Business

Cassandra Anderson at Freedom Advocates sounds the alert about the underhanded push for “sustainable development” –  Agenda 21 – through ‘Cap and Trade”.

(By the way, we’re all for sustainable development as long as it’s voluntary and comes without the heavy hand of the kleptocracy. So too we’re all for caring for the environment, choosing your family size wisely, reusing resources, and cultivating modesty, restraint, and thrift as essential components of the supremely capitalist moral virtue of prudence. But we’re not for any of these things when they’re hustled through surreptitiously as part of an agenda of top-down control and expropriation of people’s wealth and work). Continue reading

Israel: Future Turkish Defense Of Aid Ships Will Be Act Of War

Antiwar’s Jason Dietz writes:

“Israeli Army commander and top Likud member Uzi Dayan today warned on Israeli Army Radio that Israel would consider any attempt by the Turkish military to protect future aid ships from attack an “act of war.” With Israeli protesters already condemning Erdogan, is war on the table? Buckle Up For The Deflationary Ride

From Rick Ackerman:

We all need to get on board with paying down debt like any responsible citizen debtor would do. We owe big-time and this is but a taste of how it may cost us:

  • Major employment reductions amongst those working in the public service
  • Health care services that are rationed. Fewer nurses, health practitioners and support staff Continue reading

Rahm Got Free Housing From BP Greenwasher and Democrat Consultant

Conservative author Jerome Corsi suggests that Rahm Emanuel and BP are linked :

“White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, WND has learned, lived rent-free in Washington, D.C., for years, thanks in part to a friend under contract with oil giant BP.

While the White House approaches “day 50” of the environmental disaster caused by an explosion on BP’s Deepwater Horizon oil rig, unable yet to stop the flowing crude in the Gulf, several media sources have questioned the administration’s efforts to regulate BP prior to the incident. Jamie Dimon Weighs In On “Too Hot” Former Citi Employee?

Update:

The case gets stranger. Lorenzana was on a 2003 TV serial, giggling about breast implant surgery she’d had. Knowing that, would any lawyer have framed her case the way it was? Of course, this doesn’t mean she wasn’t the target of harassment. The surgery itself says nothing. It’s commonplace. Do men who take viagra or steroids lose their civil rights? No. And a competent corporate lawyer would, of course, make it the first order of business to establish that the plaintiff in a harassment suit was a slut and “asking for it.” That’s quite usual. But I remain suspicious why this story, like the Helen Thomas story, has suddenly become so prominent….Maybe to create a little sympathy for the banks? Take the focus off the Gaza flotilla? Continue reading
